UNESCO Heritage Masterpiece – Sejnane, Tunisia
Provenance
Handcrafted in Sejnane, Tunisia, by women artisans whose knowledge and skill were inscribed in 2018 on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. This piece represents a pottery lineage extending more than 3,000 years, preserved and transmitted through generations.
Description
The Sajnen Portray Candle Holder is sculpted from local Sejnane clay, molded entirely by hand without wheel or mold, then fired in open-air kilns. Each curve is dictated by the artisan’s instinct and the clay’s nature, resulting in an object that is at once functional and singularly sculptural.
Its organic silhouette recalls a musical phrase — fluid, harmonious, timeless. When lit, the flame dances within, projecting living shadows that transform space into theater.
Significance
A rare cultural artifact, unique and unrepeatable.
A collector’s object — more than décor, a vessel of heritage and prestige.
A testament to the artistry of Sejnane women, whose work is now celebrated on a global stage.
Dimensions: Approx. 7.5 in
Material: Sejnane clay, natural pigments

⚜️ The Sajnen Portray is not a candle holder to be owned, but a masterpiece to be stewarded — an object as rare as a Stradivarius, as timeless as a manuscript, as luminous as the heritage it carries.
